The bottom row needs a 5 to complete it (and finish the dotted region with a sum of 10) (Figure 40). The bordered region at the bottom right still needs a 1 and a 4, but their positions are not yet known. However, they are two of the three squares needed to sum to 8, which requires a 3 to be placed in the fourth row, fourth column (Figure 40).

In the top row, the dotted region with a sum of 11 already has one number placed, a 2. The other two squares need to sum to 9. They cannot be 4 and 5, because this would conflict with the 5 that is already in the top row, so they must be 3 and 6. The 3 must be placed in the fifth column to avoid conflicting with the 3 already in the fourth column (Figure 41). With the 3 in the top row, we now know how to arrange the 1 and 3 in the top left region (Figure 41).
